Outback Roads

It’s not common to see other vehicles on these old mining tracks. The landscape is littered with Termite Mounds and Grass Trees with Water Crossings (seasonal). Wild Horses and Kangaroos occasionally slowing progress on this very special Cairns Sightseeing Tour.

“Everything was so well organised and were taken to places we would never have found on our own” – Andre and Colleen, Gold Coast

Outback One Day Tour

Your special day begins with a pick up from your preferred location at 8am (does not include Port Douglas). We drive through the southern suburbs of Cairns where we turn west and up the picturesque Gillies Highway, climbing to an elevation of 800m (2600ft) in just 19kms (12 miles) via 263 corners with opportunities to stop and admire spectacular views of the Goldsborough Valley. Then, like turning the page of a book, we enter the Atherton Tablelands.  Lush pastoral properties among pockets of rain forest, volcanic features and the rain forest that make the Tablelands such an iconic destination. We visit the quaint little village of Yungaburra then West, entering the remote areas that came about from mineral mining in the late 1800’s. Towns like Herberton have continued to have solid economic foundations. Other examples such as Irvinebank simply refuse to die due to the residents desire to live the simple Outback lifestyle.

Before the completion of our journey, we visit the Granite Gorge Wildlife Park. Here you will have the opportunity to hand feed the Mareeba Rock Wallaby in their natural environment. Your memorable tour arrives back at your hotel at approximately 5.30pm.
